Black Monday

What a day today has been....

I am not quite sure our country is going to make it through these tough economic times.

I realize that we have a very complex situation facing us right now - but as most business people tell you (and I don't care what anyone says - this country is a business) bad debts MUST be written off. You can NOT move forward until they have been written off and reconciled. Only then can you begin with a clear slate. Much like a bankruptcy allows you to "write off" the bad - this bailout plan would have helped us do that. Even with the House's approval, our economy wouldn't have been able to "bounce" back immediately. It would have taken us some time to begin building better foundations up which to build again.

Just today - the DOW, at the end of the day, had dropped 778 points....that's even lower than the day we were attacked by Al Quaida....How can that be?? Are we seriously so STUPID that we have OURSELVES allowed this to happen??

I read today that the worlds largest Chevrolet dealership is closing all 13 of their stores as a result of the "Credit Crisis and Record Fuel Prices". That's nice. With the country facing such dire circumstances - even the price of oil has dropped $10 to $95.50 - due to weak demand.

What the heck did they think was going to happen? Did they think that they could continue having gas be close to $4.50 a gallon and people were going to continue to drive their cars and take vacations?? WAKE UP! More people are allowing their homes to go into foreclosure than ever before....More people are filing bankruptcy than ever before.....AND more large financial institutions are having to be purchased to save themselves from certain doom.

We have serious problems to solve and we need serious men and woman to solve them.

Totally scary times. It's changing every day. Every day it is something different in the economy. You are right, we won't recover over night, but it didnt' take us over night to get here.
